The London Olympics Opening Ceremony is actually over. It ended about 30 minutes ago. But NBC is broadcasting it to you East Coast viewers after they made it impossible to legally view the 2012 London ceremonies live on TV or online. It won't go to the West Coast until 7:30.
In fact, the ceremony took about 4.5 hours in total so expect NBC to cut out a shit ton of material along with countries you cannot recognize on a map. But without spoiling anything, I think you'll enjoy the festivities. If you like the Olympics, the opening ceremonies are always a memorable part of the spectacle. Beijing put up one of the greatest artistic displays in the history of ever. Atlanta had Muhammad Ali light the Olympic cauldron. Barcelona had the coolest cauldron lighting. Vancouver in the Winter games was memorable because they screwed up badly.
Play nice and consider this your open thread for other things besides the Olympics.
