UFC debutante Ryan Jimmo tied the record for the fastest knock out in UFC history with a 7 second KO of Anthony Perosh in a Light Heavyweight bout on the preliminaries of UFC 149. Jimmo might have had a 5 second KO had the referee been in better position to stop the fight.
Here's what Bloody Elbow's Tim Burke had to say about the match:
I spent a lot of time trashing Ryan Jimmo's boring style in the leadup to this bout. Well, Ryan Jimmo sure shut me up, and all of his other detractors. The bell rang for his UFC 149 light heavyweight bout with Anthony Perosh, he stepped forward and touched gloves, then knocked out Perosh with one monster right hand right behind the ear.
Let me repeat something I never, ever thought I'd have to type - Ryan Jimmo knocked someone out. In seven seconds.
The shot dropped Perosh to the mat, unconscious. He followed it up with one more shot on the ground, but it was already over. Jimmo tied the official UFC record for fastest knockout, though everyone knows that Duane Ludwig really holds that record.
