Nick Ring defeated Court McGee by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Nick Ring used a solid straight left to bloody Court McGee up, and remained elusive for the first 10 minutes. McGee came back and battered Ring around the cage in the third round of their UFC 149 middleweight fight, but it wasn't enough. The first two rounds were both close, but all three judges gave Ring both of the stanzas which was enough for him to win a unanimous decision.
McGee got off to a fast start in the first with some kicks and nice lefts. McGee stuffed two of Ring's shots. Ring was throwing single shots while Court was putting together combinations. Ring took a while to find his range but started landing with more regularity later in the round.
Ring spent more time circling away in the second, landing single kicks and punches and getting out of the way. McGee kept coming forward and landed some good combos. McGee landed a nice head kick, then an uppercut. Ring responded with a big left that bloodied McGee's nose, then another. McGee landed a nice head kick, and Ring stuffed a takedown attempt late.
McGee came out aggressive in the third, clearly nursing an injured nose. He chased Ring down and landed some nice uppercuts inside. McGee connected with a spinning backfist. McGee poured it on with volume punching. Ring was gassing out with two minutes to go and McGee continued to come forward. Ring landed a nice straight left that slowed McGee down a bit, but not for long. McGee looked for a guillotine but Ring ended up on top.
