Antonio Carvalho defeated Daniel Pineda by knockout (strikes) at 1:11 of round one

Antonio Carvalho erased the memories of his lethargic UFC debut with a great 71-second knockout of Daniel Pineda in the second UFC 149 bout. Both men threw down quickly, but it was Carvalho who quickly gained the advantage and put Pineda away with beautiful accurate rights.

The fighters engaged on the feet early, throwing volleys of combinations and kicks. Both men threw kicks at the same time that staggered Pineda, but he was able to get up. Pato landed another head kick, then a solid right that staggered Pineda. He landed another accurate right that put Pineda down, and one more followup punch ended the bout.

Carvalho was looked to bounce back from his UFC debut where he dropped a unanimous decision to Felipe Arantes at UFC 142. Pineda entered the bout looking to get back on the winning path after dropping a decision to Mike Brown at UFC 146.
