The UFC continues to flesh out the card for their September 1st UFC 151 card in Las Vegas with the addition of a lightweight bout between Henry Martinez and Daron Cruickshank. The InsideTUF Twitter account reported the match-up last night:
Uh Oh... Verbal agreements for
@Cruickshank155 & @HenryMartinez83?!? Do we smell a @UFC 151 rumble?
Martinez made fans take notice when he stepped up as a late-notice replacement at UFC 143 and took the much larger Matt Riddle to a very close split decision. Despite the loss, Martinez's performance clearly impressed the brass and he returned at his more natural weight class of 155 lbs last month where he won his own split decision against Bernardo Magalhaes. The Greg Jackson-trained fighter now brings a record of 9-2 into this September bout.
Cruickshank was a cast member of the 15th season of The Ultimate Fighter and brought a flashy tae kwon do-based style with him. Despite getting knocked out in the quarterfinals, Cruickshank returned at the season finale and used some surprising wrestling and ground-and-pound skills to take a unanimous decision victory over Chris Tickle.
