Simple thread, post something you remember from your time of being an MMA fan which is almost unbelievable or just generally isn't the case today. For example, I remember:

• That Yushin Okami was once considered the dark horse of MW, just waiting to get a shot and may have the secret to defeating Anderson
• Sonnen was a complete nobody to the casual fan
• Brock Lesnar, Todd Duffee and Shane Carwin were meant to signal a "new breed" of HW that the smaller, weaker HW were just never meant to be able to keep up with
• Lil Nog was considered to be a prospect/contender after defeating Luis Cane
• Mark Hunt was universally wanted cut by the fans because he was on a losing streak
• Alan Belcher was getting choked out by Kendall Grove
• Palhares was pretty much hated for holding onto Drwals leg
• Matt Hughes was considered a close match to Penn in their trilogy fight
• Dan Hardy was considered to have a slither of a chance if he could remain standing. I point this one out because in retrospect I think GSP could have beaten him on the feet too.
• Bisping was considered overrated before the Sonnen fight
• Cain Velasquez was considered to have pillowfists
• Brett Rogers was considered a good win for Fedor
• BJ Penn, Anderson and GSP were considered the holy trinity of the UFC, unbeatable champions. BJ faltered.
• The Machida Era. yeah.
• Shogun being considered a middling barely contender.
• Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar 2 was talked about as if it was going to be the most boring fight in history, and people were asking if it was going to be the lowest selling card of all time. We all know how that went.
