NotTheFace made an excellent post a few weeks ago that referenced Jack Slack (the original) and lots of folk seemed surprised and confused! ;)

To clarify, like many Eastern European boxers did in the early 20th century, such as Jack Dempsey and Jack Sharkey, I took the name of an old timer.

I don't particularly admire the man, his life was more than a little shady! But it certainly has a ring to it.

Thought this might make some of you guys chuckle!

Sources on his life are surprisingly scarce for an English champion, but reportedly he is the reason that the pivot blow (spinning backfist) and rabbit punch are banned, blinding three of his opponents with these techiques.
