Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson has stated that the organization has informed him that they will be offering current Strikeforce LW champion Gilbert Melendez a 4th fight between the two warriors. This came up while Thomson was on MMA Junkie radio
Per MMAjunkie.com
"From my understanding, they're going to offer him the rematch, and if it doesn't happen, it's not because of me," Thomson said. "I just want everyone to understand that."
Melendez and Thomson met earlier this year at the Strikeforce Heavyweight GP final, with Melendez taking home a razor thin split decision that was booed loudly by the crowd in attendance. All three fights between the two have been exciting, back and forth affairs, but with Melendez currently being up 2 wins to 1, you would have to believe there would not be much to gain from him taking a 4th fight with Thomson, despite the closeness of their last fight.
During the interview, Thomson also mentions that he has potential opponents in both Jorge Masvidal, as well as Pat Healy.
