Today, MMA Junkie reported that top flyweight Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall is lobbying for a fight with Louis Gaudinot, after Gaudinot suggested the fight when on MMA Junkie radio.
McCall seemed very open to the fight with Gaudinot, noting that he has looked much better since moving down to flyweight. Since the fight with Demetrius Johnson at UFC on FX 3, McCall has been very hard on himself, and knows he could've done better.
"It came down to my fault," McCall said. "Obviously, no one likes blaming anyone else. I screwed up. My diet didn't go like I should've, and I ended up cutting 18-and-a-half pounds. I was flat, and I didn't fight like I should have."
Ian then went on to say that he'd prefer to have the fight at UFC on Fox 4, at the Staples Center in Las Angeles on August 4. It is just a half hour from where he lives, and who doesn't want to put on a show for their home town crowd?
Putting this fight on Fox makes a lot of sense. These two fighters are athletically gifted, and the pace that Gaudinot would bring would be fun to watch. It would also give casual fans a great fight to watch and a good introduction to the flyweight division if they haven't gotten one already.
