Erick Silva defeated Charlie Brenneman by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:33 of the first round
Erick Silva dealt with relentless pressure from Charlie Brenneman for most of the first round, but took advantage of one small mistake and made Brenneman pay. Silva reversed a Brenneman takedown attempt and took his back, quickly securing his hooks and locking on a choke. Brenneman had no choice but to tap.
Brenneman went in for a takedown immediately but ate a knee. He tried it again and got the same thing, but managed to work it against the fence and switch around to Silva's back . Brenneman rolled backwards with a takedown, but Silva looked for a leglock that made Brenneman break off. He pushed it back against the cage for a while until the ref separated them. Brenneman ate another knee on the way in but finally got a brief takedown.
Silva was right back up though. Silva landed some kicks. Silva reversed a takedown and took Brenneman's back with both hooks. He immediately rolled Brenneman onto his stomach and latched on a rear naked choke won him the bout.
Silva entered the bout coming off a DQ loss to Carlo Prater where he completely dominated but lost due to punches to the back of the head. Brenneman shut down Daniel Roberts and picked up a decision win in his last bout before this one.
