Eddie Wineland defeated Scott Jorgensen by Knockout at 4:10 of the second round
Eddie Wineland seemed like he could land his right at will, and he eventually used it to turn Scott Jorgensen's lights out. After dropping Jorgensen in the first and peppering him with shots in the second, Wineland doubled up the jab and then laid Jorgensen out with a huge right. It was a dominant performance from Wineland and the first time Jorgensen had been finished via strikes in his 19-fight career.
Wineland dud a good job of establishing his counterpunching in the first round, while Jorgensen threw a lot of right hooks. Both fighters did use their jabs well though. A stiff jab from Wineland put Jorgensen on his butt, but he popped up quickly and looked for a takedown. Wineland reversed though and took top position briefly. Wineland landed a nice combination and a strong right to close out the round.
Jorgensen got inside and scored a takedown early in the second, but Wineland popped up immediately. Jorgensen opened up a cut on Wineland's forehead. Wineland responded with a series of straight rights that landed, and Jorgensen went back to his jab. Wineland would up with a huge right after two jabs that buckled Jorgensen, and he was able to finish the fight with three followup shots on the ground.
Jorgensen entered the bout coming off a decision loss to top contender Renan Barao at UFC 143, while Wineland was on a two-fight losing streak.
