Following his close fought split decision win over top UFC Welterweight Josh Koscheck, Johny Hendricks was promised a spot as next in line for title contention after current Interim Champion Carlos Condit. Condit earned his chance to fight dominant champion Georges St. Pierre with a decision win over Nick Diaz at UFC 143 in January 2012. The biggest problem here is that GSP isn't set to return to competition until around November this year and Condit has chosen to sit out until the champ returns. That put Hendricks in a rough situation as he'd be forced to wait the better part of a year before his chance to face the winner.
Today, Johny took to Twitter to show that wasn't good enough for him:
Yes it's official: I did call out @CarlosCondit yesterday but I'm waiting for a reply.

One fan proposed a secondary number one contenders match between Hendricks and other top welterweight Martin Kampmann, but that didn't seem to fit his plans either:
@Cdamage1904 Kampmann is taking a month off then having knee surgery.Who knows when GSP is really returning? Let's move the WW's forward!

His last two lines reflect the opinion of many MMA fans regarding the state of the WW division right now. They feel that without activity the interim championship is mostly meaningless and Condit's decision to wait creates a logjam at the top of the division. Personally, I think it's doubtful that Johny Hendricks is granted his request for this fight. However, I think it's a great move on his part to keep his name out in the meantime.
