UFC heavyweight Roy Nelson has no problem speaking his mind on basically any topic in the sport. Speaking on Sherdog's "Beatdown" radio show, Nelson discussed a variety of things including saying that he's been tested and has low testosterone but doesn't plan on getting an exemption to go on testosterone replacement (yet). He also engaged in a lot of complaining about rankings and talked about why he had wanted a fight with Cain Velasquez.
Nelson also discussed who he'd like to fight next:
I just want a money fight. But if not, I've always wanted to fight [Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira]. I'll take the winner out of Big Nog and Cheick Kongo. I'd love that fight. Of course JDS, Frank [Mir]. There's so many out there. I'll even take the little black guy on the UFC roster where it says TBA. Because if you're in the UFC, you're the best in the world. You can fight that guy and be the next title contender. Brock did it.
Then again, Brock also hadn't endured three big beatings in losing efforts in his last five fights.
Look, I like Roy a lot as a guy and think he's a pretty good fighter. I guess I just don't understand the idea that he is deserving of bigger and better things when he complains about where he's ranked and what fans think about his place in the sport. He's fought three guys ranked in the top five in the aforementioned last five fights and was convincingly dominated in all three fights.
That being said, the Kongo/Nogueira winner is a pretty spot on correct fight for him. The winner of that fight will be ranked above him, but not so much so that it'd be a huge jump. I don't know that the UFC will want to use one of Nogueira's fights on Nelson given that Big Nog may be winding his career down (or maybe not, who knows?). But if Kongo wins, Nelson vs. Kongo would be a competitive and smart fight to make.
