Last time Edwin Figueroa was in the cage, he took two brutal groin shots but still gutted out a victory. It appears he'll have to wait a little longer before he can return to the octagon though, as he was forced off the UFC on FX 4 card today with an injury. His replacement won his first UFC bout just three weeks ago and will step in on two weeks notice. Sherdog has the news:
Injuries continue to alter the UFC on FX 4 landscape, as promotion officials recently announced that Edwin Figueroa will not fight Ken Stone at the June 22 event.
Stepping up to replace Figueroa will be hard-punching Californian Francisco Rivera, who has verbally agreed to face Stone, according to the UFC's official statement. UFC on FX 4 takes place at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and will be headlined by a lightweight confrontation between top talents Clay Guida and Gray Maynard.
Rivera (8-2) defeated Alex Soto by unanimous decision at UFC on Fuel 3 last month, and will look to continue his three-fight win streak against Stone (10-3), who hasn't stepped in the cage since September where he defeated Donny Walker by decision.
The bout will take place on the preliminary card.
