Johnson and McCall fought to a three round draw at UFC on FX 1 which took place on Mar. 3, 2012 at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia. The UFC had attempted to arrange for a stipulation that would allow any draws in the Flyweight tournament to go to a fourth round for "sudden death" but the Australian authorities failed to notice that one of the judges had mis-added his card and initially the fight was declared a victory for Johnson. Ironically the UFC itself oversees the judges and refs in Australia in the absence of a ruling governmental authority.

By the time the error was caught, it was too late for the sudden death round, a huge disappointment to both fighters and a source of real frustration to the fans and the UFC. The pair will rematch this Friday night in the headliner of UFC on FX 3. The winner of that bout will face Joseph Benavidez for the first ever UFC Flyweight championship.
