The 149 injury crisis continues, this time on the undercard. This one won't be as damaging, but still. Antonio Carvalho has a new opponent, as first announced by Sportnet's Joe Ferraro on twitter:
Breaking News: George Roop injured. Replaced by Daniel Pineda vs Canadian FW Antonio Carvalho at @UFC 149.
— Joe Ferraro (@ShowdownJoe) June 26, 2012
The 26-year-old Pineda (27-8) has gone 2-1 in the UFC thus far, with all his bouts coming in 2012. He started his UFC career off with two straight first round submission wins, over Pat Schilling at UFC on FX and Mackens Semerzier at UFC on FX 2 as a late replacement. His streak was halted by Mike Brown at UFC 146 where he lost a unanimous decision.
Pato has fought once in the UFC thus far, dropping a decision to Felipe Arantes at UFC 142 in January.
The fight will take place on the preliminary card of the July 21st event in Calgary, which will be main-evented by a UFC interim Bantamweight title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao.
