It's not exactly surprising, but the ratings for the UFC 147 prelims on FX were amongst the worst since the move over to the Fox-branded stations. UFC on FX 4 actually did pretty well with 1.3 million viewers. These fights? Not so much (via MMA Weekly):
The UFC 147 Prelims TV ratings, drawing an average audience of 969,000 according to industry sources, were the lowest for a preliminary bouts broadcast on FX since the first edition on the network, which was for UFC 142 in January.
Also emanating from Brazil, the UFC 142 Prelims drew an average audience of 880,000.
The card was full of Ultimate Fighter Brazil contestants that had zero name value here, so it's not exactly surprising. The show did excellent numbers in Brazil though, which should alleviate some concerns about the event in general. And I'm sure we'll see a return to the average for the UFC 148 FX prelims on July 7th, which feature well-known names like Melvin Guillard and Gleison Tibau.
