Francisco "Massaranduba" Drinaldo defeated Delson "Pe De Chumbo" Heleno via TKO (strikes) at 4:21 of round one
It's not very often that you'll see a natural lightweight take on a natural welterweight in a middleweight bout in the UFC, but that's what you got tonight when Francisco "Massaranduba" Drinaldo faced off with Delson "Pe De Chumbo" Heleno at UFC 147. And the lightweight won. Drinaldo fought off Heleno takedowns with pure strength, then beat the tar out of Heleno once he got on top to earn a TKO victory. The finish came at 4:21 of the first round.
Heleno got caught by a Massaranduba right early, and immediately looked for a takedown. He worked damn hard for it, but the smaller guy fought him off over and over again and just sort of ragdolled Heleno to the mat instead. He wasn't able to get much of an advantage initially, but some followup shots hurt Heleno to the point that he was flat on his back and eating gigantic hammerfists. He was covering up, but that's about it. Eventually the ref had seen enough of Godzilla trying to crush a bus with his fist and mercifully stepped in.
I can't wait to see Massaranduba in his natural weight class.
