defeated Leonardo Macarrao by TKO (strikes) at 41 seconds of round three
Thiago "Bodao" Perpetuo didn't have the best first round, but he turned it on after that and picked up a TKO win in the third round of his UFC 147 bout with Leonardo "Macarrao" Mafra. A thunderous right hand put Mafra on the mat early in the last stanza, and it was a forgone conclusion after that. The finish came at 41 seconds of the third.
Mafra found success early with some looping punches. They weren't the prettiest technique-wise, but they were more effective than anything Bodao offered up other than a couple of nice right hooks. Macarrao definitely took the first. Bodao took the second round. He looked for a takedown early but Macarrao grabbed an armbar out of nowhere but Bodao countered it very nicely. He continued to look for the armbar from the bottom but ate a bunch of elbows from the top for his troubles. Perpetuo spent most of the round on top though.
Perpetuo opened the third round with a huge right that crumpled Mafra against the cage. He had to work hard on the ground to get the stop, and eventually referee Mario Yamasaki had seen enough and stepped in. The fight was pretty good overall
