OK, so I have been thinking of my time spent in jiu jitsu and the different styles of play that I have been exposed to.
My question to you is: what's your style of jiu jitsu? And what is your favorite move, aka your go to move that helps you tap out an opponent or puts you in a position of to take the initiative away?
More after "the jump"
As for me, I enjoy playing half guard, be it top or bottom. If I am playing half guard from the top, I like to smash and give what I believe somebody called the Shoulder of Justice, but while doing that I either grab their collar with my rear hand and pull it taught so they cannot roll away. Or I thread my arm over their throat and with the point of my elbow on the ground push it towards their head. Think along the lines of a clock hand moving towards 12. Being that I am large and in charge, it serves to tire them out as well.
If I am on the bottom, I like to either trap arm closest to me and go into a kimura as they pass the1/2 guard. Think along the lines of being on your side while your near hand traps their near arm, as they are ready to pass, you thread your second arm and grab your wrist, while they complete the pass you flatten yourself and complete the kimura. I have a hard time describing it, but can pull it off with relative ease. Or my other bottom weapon is taking the back by putting my arm around their neck and sliding out while pushing them forward. My balance sux, so I don't always get this done correctly.
And you's? I mean, Y'all???
Oh, and do you focus on "sport" jiu jitsu or more to self defense...
