The betting line for the UFC 152 bout between Canadian welterweight uber-prospect Rory MacDonald and future Hall of Famer B.J. Penn opened on the weekend, and Rory was a healthy favorite at -288. Penn sat at +232. Other than a brief blip it basically sat like that until last night, when a bunch of money apparently came in on Penn and the line shifted accordingly. Here's how it looks at the moment:
Only 5Dimes and SportBet are offering the line at the moment, but the other books will probably pick it up soon. Penn hasn't opened as a major underdog in any of his fights over the last five years (though the closing line in his UFC 127 bout against Jon Fitch had him at around +170). MacDonald has closed as the favorite in every one of his UFC fights (yes, even against Carlos Condit) and things will likely be no different here.
The bout will take place on September 22nd in Toronto, likely in the Air Canada Centre.
