Bloody Elbow will bring you live coverage of tonight's ShoFight 20 card from the O'Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield, MO. The event is full of names that you'll recognize and is one of the strongest regional cards you're going to see nowadays. The first fight starts at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, and they'll go live on The Fight Network in Canada at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Unfortunately for everyone outside Canada, the event will not be airing live and you'll have to wait until July 1st for a delayed pay-per-view broadcast. Most people aren't exactly enamored with that, but it is what it is.
The main event of tonight's show sees former UFC fighters facing off for the promotion's vacant 170-pound title. Karo Parisyan (20-8, 1 NC) broke a three-fight losing streak with a decision win over Thomas Denny in March, and will look to pick up the biggest win since his UFC departure when he meets John Gunderson (33-12-2). Gunderson is a natural lightweight that is coming up a division to take on The Heat. He was a late replacement for former UFC fighter Shamar Bailey. He is just 4-5 in his last nine bouts, but picked up the SCC lightweight title by submitting Justin Buchholz in his last bout in February.
The co-main event features a middleweight title fight between Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove (14-10, 1 NC) and current Strikeforce fighter Derek Brunson (9-0). Brunson was a very late replacement for Terry Martin, and was allowed to take the fight by Strikeforce since they didn't have anything lined up for him at the moment. Due to the late notice, the bout will be contested at 190 pounds. Grove is 2-1 since his UFC release, but got submitted by Jay Silva in his last bout. Brunson was supposed to fight Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in March, but was forced out of the bout due to the state of Ohio having weird rules about fighting with contact lenses.
The other major bout on the card sees former Strikeforce lightweight Lyle Beerbohm (18-2) taking on former UFC and Pride fighter Marcus Aurelio (21-9). Even though they're both natural lightweights, they're competing at welterweight for this fight. Beerbohm has picked up two wins in a row after losses to both Shinya Aoki and Pat Healy in Strikeforce. Aurelio hasn't competed for over a year, but has picked up wins in three of his last four bouts.
You can check out the rest of the card, which includes names such Charles "Krazy Horse/Kid Khaos" Bennett, Drew Fickett, and Roli Delgado, after the jump. And remember to stop by later for the live coverage.
