The UFC has released the official trailer for UFC 147 which is headlined by a catchweight rematch between Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin and co-mained by a Heavyweight bout between Fabricio Werdum and Mike Russow. The event takes place on June 23, 2012 at Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The event will also feature the finals of the Featherweight and Middleweight tournaments of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil which has been airing in Globo TV in Brazil.
Originally the UFC planned to hold the event in a soccer stadium in Sao Paulo with a headlining UFC Middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. The event was to be co-mained by Wanderlei Silva vs. Vitor Belfort, the coaches of TUF Brazil. After the UFC had to abandon those plans due to noise ordinances in Sao Paulo, they attempted to move the event to Rio de Janeiro but had to abandon those plans as well due to a conflicting UN conference that was filling all the hotels in the city.
Once the soccer stadium angle was abandoned, Silva vs. Sonnen was moved to the UFC 148 card in July in Las Vegas, Nevada. Belfort dropped out of the event a few weeks ago with a broken hand. Rich Franklin agreed to the catchweight bout and pulled out of his fight against Cung Le planned for UFC 148.
