UFC president Dana White told MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani that he hopes to book a Welterweight title unification bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and interim champ Carlos Condit for UFC 154. That event will take place on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. White also hopes to feature a #1 contender eliminator bout between Martin Kampmann and Johnny Hendricks on the same card with the winner getting a title shot against the champion.
St. Pierre has not fought since UFC 129 in April 2011. He strained his left MCL and had to pull out of a planned UFC 137 bout against Carlos Condit. He was next slated to defend his belt against Nick Diaz at UFC 143 but tore his right ACL and had to undergo surgery.
Condit won the interim belt by beating Diaz at UFC 143 and has elected not to defend his title.
