Martin Kampmann defeated Jake Ellenberger by knockout at 1:40 of the second round
Martin Kampmann got off to a pretty bad start, but he stayed in the fight and came back with a gigantic win over Jake Ellenberger in the main event of the TUF Live Finale. Ellenberger dropped the Danish fighter less than 30 seconds into the bout and looked to have him badly damaged, but he spent the rest of the round grinding against the cage. He clipped Kampmann again in the second and bloodied up his nose, but Kampmann came back with two huge knees in the clinch and put Ellenberger on the mat and forced the referee to stop the fight. The finish came at 1:40 of the second round.
After a couple of exchanges to begin the bout, Ellenberger dropped Kampmann with a solid left hook. Ellenberger went in for the kill against the cage but Kampmann covered up well. Ellenberger grinded away against the cage but didn't throw any strikes, giving Kampmann more time to recover. Kampmann threatened with a guillotine to try and get back to his feet, but Ellenberger controlled the legs quite well. Kampmann finally got up with 30 seconds to go, and landed some knees against the fence. He looked for his own takedown but was rebuffed.
Kampmann landed a counter right, and another against the cage. Kampmann decided to get into a firefight with Ellenberger and he paid for it, as Jake bloodied up his nose with a bunch of wild hooks and sent him scurrying across the cage. Kampmann caught him with a left hand that seemed to stagger Ellenberger back, then clinched up and dropped him with a knee. Mazzagatti jumped in right away even though Ellenberger was covering up, but it appeared to be a good stop at first glance.
It appears that a bout with Johny Hendricks is next for Kampmann in a title eliminator.
