UFC 149 took a big hit this morning when Thiago Silva was removed from his co-main event bout with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The more interesting part seems to be in regards to a possible replacement though. Dana White wanted Glover Teixeira to step in and fight Shogun on July 21st, but it appears that won't be the case. MMA Junkie explains:

"With Thiago hurt, we turned to Glover and asked him to go right back in to fight 'Shogun' at UFC 149," White told MMA Junkie. "But 'Shogun's' people are adamantly refusing to take the fight. They want nothing to do with Glover."

...

"Shogun' wants nothing to do with Glover," White said. "But that's the fight Lorenzo and I are trying to put together."

It's a bit surprising that White would put this information out there like that. Is it to pressure Shogun into taking the fight? Is it because they don't have any other legitimate options? We'll have to wait and see for now, but if they can get Shogun's camp to cave and take the bout, Teixeira will be getting the biggest opportunity of his career.

UPDATE - According to a Tatame interview, Shogun's manager Julio Heller said they haven't turned down Teixeira and didn't know that Silva was officially out of the fight yet:

“I just sent a message to the UFC. I’m waiting for their call”, Heller said. “(Turning down a fight with Glover) it’s not true at all”.

Julio said they’ll wait for the UFC before making further comments, and the decision to fight Glover, or any other opponent, is in Shogun and his coach Andre Dida’s hands.

“We have to wait for the names they’ll offer, and then we’ll see what we do”.
