Coin Flip to Decide How Fights Should Start

So I was thinking about the upcoming Dos Santos/Mir fight today. And I was thinking how the vast majority of people are saying the only way Mir stands a chance in this fight is if he gets it to the ground. But the chances of that happening aren't that great because of JDS' stellar TDD. So chances are Mir is gonna get KO'd before he ever gets the fight to the ground and Vegas agrees.

Then I was thinking how much better Mir's chances would be if the fight started on the ground. More specifically in Junior's guard. Or how this could drastically effect the lines or outcomes of other fights, depending on where the fight actually started.

But how could the ref determine how to start each fight? Then I thought of the NFL where a coin toss determines which team kicks off or receives the ball at the start of the game. And I thought how this could transition to MMA to possibly make some fights more competitive. If a fighter wins the coin toss at the beginning of the fight, he could decide if he wants to start the fight standing or on the ground in full guard.

It seems like it would even the playing field between grapplers and strikers instead of that cliche that all fights start on the feet. But I was then thinking if Mir won the coin toss and the first round started on the ground and JDS survived it, would the next possible 4 rounds start on the feet? No. Then I thought of the NFL again and how the team that kicks off in the first half, receives the ball in the second half and how they could alternate which rounds start standing and which rounds start on the ground and the fighter who won the coin toss could decide if they wanted to start the first round standing or on the ground.

This is my first Fan Post and I have a pretty good buzz going on right now. But I hope I relayed my idea coherently and this isn't the dumbest Fan Post in recent memory. I just thought this would help make some fights more competitive and not as predictable. And if it would possibly affect the lines Vegas places on some of these fights.
