English fighter John Hathaway pretty much dominated German Pascal Krauss in their UFC on Fox 3 Welterweight bout. Krauss wasn't ever able to get much going and ate a variety of Hathaway strikes throughout the fight, including a knee that dropped him in the first. Krauss also spent much of the bout on his back, and while he was given one round on a judge's scorecard, it was all Hathaway.
Hathaway was the more active fighter early in the first round, while Krauss was looking to get his distance down. After a couple of minutes Krauss opened up with a leg kick and a combination. Hathaway went for a takedown that got stuffed, but landed a solid knee that dropped Krauss. Krauss made it back to his feet and after some exchanges, got his own takedown. The round ended with Krauss not doing much of anything in Hathaway's guard.
Hathaway got a takedown in the second and worked his ground and pound quite well for over half the round. Krauss finally got back up with about two minutes to go. Hathaway circled away well, and landed some solid strikes while Krauss chased a bit. Krauss scooped a single leg late, but was unable to get the British fighter to the ground.
The final stanza began with Hathaway throwing single shots and connecting. Hathaway scooped up Krauss and got another takedown. Hathaway was able get loose a little more than in the second and opened up with his ground and pound. Krauss escaped to his feet, but Hathaway landed a nice flying knee. Krauss didn't show a lot of urgency even though he had to know he was down on the cards. Hathaway circled away and caught him with a spinning backfist. Krauss looked for a takedown against the cage late, but ate another huge knee that bloodied up his nose. Hathaway tried to finish with some flashy strikes late, but it was not to be.
Hathaway picks up his second win in a row with the decision and improves to an impressive 6-1 in the UFC, while Krauss drops to 1-1 in the promotion.
