BJJ competion.

http://flic.kr/p/c7qkoJ

So i have been training for a while now under Rodney Ellis and the Nova Uniao team in Australia. I'm still a white belt despite my 2 years of training ( NU AUS is notoriously slow at giving out belts) injuries have been my biggest enemy so far with knee and multiple rib injuries.

Any way I competed for the first time in almost a year earlier this month, being a smaller comp i only had 6 other people competing at my weight.

I am 195cm/6'4" and i fight/compete at 85kg/187lbs.

the first bout was vs a very compact and strong guy shorter than me and i had seen him carve through a very tall guys guard before i didn't want to play closed guard with him if possible, i thought my deep half guard/spider/DLR guard was the way to go with this guy.

The video is rubbish quality thanks to my brother.

The final was vs a guy about my height but seemed fairly well built. I had watched his semi final as saw that he was not very active in closed guard so i decided to play guard and go for the kill.

Again sorry about the quality of the video.

Note i tore my inner costal muscles in my ribs trying to finish the first triangle and was in fair bit of pain through out the last 4 mins of it. i am pretty disappointed i didn't finish him via triangle/arm bar or sleeve choke.

Feedback and comments welcome.
