Bloody Elbow News Roundup: Anderson Silva Calls Vitor Belfort A Coward, Funny Dana White Video

Alistair Overeem, Ze Mario Sperry, and Rashad Evans working out in Florida.

Yeah, it's me again. I'm here to bring you all the news you might have missed in tonight's Bloody Elbow News Roundup. And I'm not gonna lie - a lot of this stuff is gold. Gold I say! Anderson Silva has lots to say about Vitor Belfort and Jon Jones (nothing about the Bones "incident" unfortunately), there's a bunch of ratings news to gloss over, and I've even included a couple of interesting videos too. They feature UFC president Dana White and former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson respectively, and I find them amusing. Okay okay, enough of my rambling. Let's do this.

We'll start with the champ. If you missed The Ultimate Fighter Brazil on Sunday, you missed UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva talking some smack about former opponent Vitor Belfort. It seems that he didn't know his mic was on, and was talking to Wanderlei Silva about The Phenom:

"I know his weakness, he can't step back. He's a coward, you know? Really go for it... Hey, I still have the microphone here. *laughs* The whole world will know. Nah, hold on a minute. I'm not telling any lies. Everyone knows. Do you see what they did to his photo? They forgot to write cutie underneath."

This is the photo he's referring to, for those wondering. In other Anderson news, he spoke to Tatame about the possibility of fighting UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones one day. Spoiler - it ain't happenin':

"We have a couple of athletes on the above division, which are Rafael Feijao (Strikeforce), who's a big name in the division and Fabio Maldonado, who just fought and lost by points. We have many guys in this division. On my weight class, besides me in the UFC, there's (Ronaldo) Jacare in the Strikeforce. Our team focus on each of us and try to let us take our chances and take advantage of them, so we don't have this ambition of me going to the light heavyweight division and fight each other. I'm gonna leave it to Maldonado, Feijao or even Rogerio (Nogueira) too. They are on his weight division, so they'll deal with him."

Changing topics, did you ever wonder why Rampage Jackson howls? He explains here (via Fighters Only):

After the jump you can check out an amusing video of Dana White reacting to a Nick Diaz fight (and a UFC champion slightly embarrassing himself in the background), get caught up on ratings news, and see what former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has to say about his UFC 146 opponent Antonio Silva.

The second episode of UFC Primetime did similar ratings to the first episode with an average of 544,000 viewers. Part one did 540,000. Meanwhile, Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier did SF's best numbers of the year thus far with an average of 463,000 viewers. That was 30,000 more than their last card, Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey, which did 433k. Bellator also did their best number of the season with an average of 209,000 viewers.

Nick Diaz has frequently been at the center of controversy during his UFC tenure, but his last Strikeforce fight before the move to the octagon was legendary. Diaz knocked out Paul Daley at the end of the one of the most exciting rounds of 2011, and someone captured Dana White's reaction to it. While Dana constantly repeating the same two-word sentence is pretty funny, a current UFC champion's reaction in the background near the start of the video is even funnier (at least to me). Consider this an olive branch to all you Diaz lovers, okay? Check it:

Finally, Fox Sports caught up with Cain Velasquez to talk about what went wrong at UFC on Fox where he lost his title to Junior dos Santos back in November:

"Just the game plan. There was no sense of urgency on my part to execute it," Velasquez told FOXSports.com. "I stood on the outside too long and ended up paying the price for it."

And how he thinks he can beat UFC 146 opponent Antonio Silva:

"I've been watching what happened between (Silva) and Daniel Cormier," Velasquez said. "I train with Daniel a lot. I have to try to be quicker than him. I think that fighting style with him will do well. I have to be good on the ground with my wrestling and jiu-jitsu. I think I can beat him with that, too. I think (whether we fight) on our feet or on the ground, I'm winning this fight."

That's all for tonight. Oh, and remember to check out Countdown to UFC 146 tonight.
