Showtime sports spoke to Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier winners Daniel Cormier and Gilbert Melendez last night following their wins over Josh Barnett and Josh Thomson, respectively. Cormier put on a career best performance, scoring a clear cut unanimous decision over Johs Barnett to become the first (and last) Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner. Gilbert Melendez squeaked past Josh Thomson, defending his Strikeforce Lightweight title with a hard fought decision, and closing the trilogy 2 wins to 1 loss.

After the jump we'll hear from both Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson, as well as main card winners Chris Spang and Rafael Cavalcante. Spang put on a one sided beat down over hyped opponent Nah-Shon Burrell, who withstood the onslaught for as long as he could before being put away over 4 minutes into the first round.

Cavalcante got revenge of Mike Kyle, landing strikes that had Kyle in trouble early, softening him up with ground and pound for sinking in a fight ending guillotine choke from guard.
