I hear this term get thrown around a lot but it seems like some kind of super secret kind of incentive UFC (and other organizations) offer fighters.
I can only speculate on what kind of conditions must be met and how much they might influence the way a fight goes down, so I will speculate!
*In the locker room"
Johny Hendricks: so, Dana, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?
Dana: (looks around) OK, the fucking coast is clear, listen, Jon Fitch is a major fucking pain in my ass.
Johny: Yea, well I've been training hard for this fight and...
Dana: (opens briefcase) have you ever seen what $5,000 dollars looks like, Johny?
Johny: Well yea...
Dana: Well this fucking briefcase contains exactly half of that. You knock Fitch out, and I mean really fucking knock him out, this is all yours.
Johny: Ah! This is one of those locker room bonuses I've heard about. you got it Dana!
Dana: And Johny..
Johny: Yea?
Dana: I'm counting on you.
In addition to this kind of thing, do you think organizations sometimes offer locker room bonuses to fighters if they promise to stand and bang? I could see this making business sense. Throw an extra 10 or 20k to each of the fighters to ensure an exciting main card? Why the hell not! This is cage fight'n afterall.
But seriously, does anybody have any inside information about how these bonuses work or if there are any rules about them?
