Gesias Cavalcante will look to regain a top spot in the Strikeforce lightweight division when he faces off with Isaac Vallie-Flagg on the preliminary card of Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier next month. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker tweeted about it earlier:
Cavalcante (16-4-1, 2 NC) has had a weird Strikeforce tenure thus far. He made his debut against Josh Thomson and seemingly beat him, but the judges inexplicably gave the decision to Thomson instead. His next bout against Justin Wilcox went to a No Contest due to an accidental eye poke from JZ. He finally got in the win column with a close split decision win over Bobby Green last July.
Vallie-Flagg (12-3-1) made his Strikeforce debut with a split-decision win over Brian Melancon last June at a 175 pound catchweight. This will be his lightweight debut.
