Hector Lombard and The Big Pond vs. The Little Pond

Hector Lombard is UFC bound! The muscular Cuban slugger hasn't lost since 2006, has 17 knockouts, and is a killer. But he's also 34 years old and the best name on that list of wins might be either Jay Silva or Alexander Schlemenko. Nothing against those gentleman, but Anderson Silva they aren't. So what should the UFC do with Lombard? Throw him into deep water? Build up his resume? Who's out there?

  • Brian Stann
  • Mark Munoz
  • Yushin Okami
  • Jake Shields
  • Ed Herman
  • I would personally vote for Stann, I think it would be an exciting fight for both guys and they match up well with each other. Thoughts on Lombard and the UFC? He's super-talented, has a great look, and is multi-dimensional. But thus far, he has only dominated the minor leagues. His record, as impressive as it is in numbers, is nowhere near as impressive when you look at the names on that list. I would argue Ed Herman is better than nearly all of those names.
The UFC doesn't really mess around with new talent like this. I am interested in what Lombard can do in the UFC. Can he keep up with a fighter with Chael Sonnen's wrestling, Michael Bisping's speed, or Mark Munoz's power? It should be fun to watch.
