The UFC held a press conference earlier today in Brazil to announce that the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen would be moved from UFC 147 in Brazil to UFC 148 in Las Vegas on July 7th. That's obviously a huge bout, but where does it leave the expected main event, the third bout between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber for the UFC bantamweight title?
Demoted, that's where.
According to UFC officials, Cruz vs. Faber will now serve as the co-main event of the evening. The two men are currently coaching The Ultimate Fighter Live and were expected to carry one of the biggest cards of the year. Instead, that duty will fall on the UFC middleweight title bout instead.
This will be the first card since UFC 136 to have two title bouts. There will also be a fan expo in Las Vegas for the event over the weekend.
