The three most impressive winning streaks in MMA belong to
- Fedor's run through Pride and Affliction, 2003-2009
- Anderson Silva's current run through the UFC middleweight division, 2005 to current
- Wanderlei Silva's tear through the Pride middleweight division, mid-2000s
Other's deserving mention are Georges St-Pierre, though the Serra loss still keeps him out of the elite streaks. Shogun Rua's Pride run was impressive with his only loss coming from a broken arm against Mark Coleman. And even Brock Lesnar should merit some consideration since he had no MMA experience and was fed nothing but former champions during his entire run in the UFC. Right now, Jones is hovering around the Shogun Rua range right now. Maybe a little more. But he's beaten four former UFC light heavyweight champions in a row, and done so fairly easily. He needs to sustain this and a win over Dan Henderson could add some more luster.
So what do you all think? Where does Jones stack up? And what is, to you, the most impressive winning streak in MMA history? I got with Fedor because of the savages he fought in Pride but Wandy and Andy have had impressive streaks as well. And who else is out there? Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz come to mind. Aldo has not found that perfect foil yet to put him on the huge stage yet, while Cruz has.
