UPDATE: UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen will be moved to UFC 148 in Las Vegas on July 7th.
White said that there is as yet not a venue for UFC 147. That event will still feature Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva, the finals of the MW and FW Ultimate Fighter Brazil competitions, Fabricio Werdum vs. Mike Russow and possibly Featherweight champion Jose Aldo making a title defense.
Although the official press conference has not yet begun, Brazilian media on the scene are reporting that the signage at the press conference indicates that the UFC Middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will take place at UFC 148 on July 7 in Las Vegas.
Reporter Fernando Kallas of Portal de Vale Tudo has tweeted a photo of the decor at the press conference that shows Silva and Sonnen's faces beneath the UFC 148 marquee. UFC 148 had been set to feature a Bantamweight title fight betweeen Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz as its headliner. Cruz and Faber are the coaches of the debut season of The Ultimate Fighter Live on FX.
Silva vs. Sonnen II, a rematch of their UFC 117 classic, had been set for UFC 147 in Rio de Janeiro but difficulties in securing hotel space due to a UN conference in Rio that same week have apparently forced the move.
No news as of yet as to the fate of the Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva co-main event set for UFC 147. Belfort and Silva are the coaches of the debut season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil which is doing great ratings in Brazil.
