A lightweight matchup between Gleison Tibau (25-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) and Khabib Nurmagomedov (17-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is the latest addition to July's UFC 148 event.
UFC officials today announced the new contest.
UFC 148, which takes place July 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, features a headliner between bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz and challenger Urijah Faber, who serve as opposing coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter: Live."
It's currently unknown where the Tibau vs. Nurmagomedov bout will feature on the evening's card.
An American Top Team fighter, Tibau is currently enjoying his best UFC run with three-straight victories. The run includes wins over Rafael dos Anjos, Rafaello Oliviera and Kurt Pellegrino.
Tibau, in fact, is actually 5-1 in his past six fights, with the lone loss coming to perennial contender Jim Miller.
Meanwhile, undefeated Nurmagomedov gets a stiff test in just his second octagon effort. The Russian debuted in January, earning an impressive submission win over Kamal Shalorus.
The 23-year-old prospect made his professional debut in September 2008 and has remained perfect since.
