Some semi-big news popped up this afternoon that changes the complexion of two cards, UFC on Fuel 3 and UFC 148. Mike Easton has been forced out of his UFC on Fuel 3 bout with Yves Jabouin, and will be replaced by Jeff Hougland. Hougland was scheduled to face Renan Barao at UFC 148, but will now be replaced by Ivan Menjivar. Joe Ferraro of UFC Central tweeted the info:
While the loss of Easton hurts the UFC on Fuel card a bit, Barao vs. Menjivar is a huge upgrade from Barao vs. Hougland and a much tougher test for Barao. Menjivar (24-8) is 3-0 in the UFC with his most recent win coming via submission over John Albert at UFC on Fuel 1 last month. The winner of that bout would likely be in line to face the winner of the UFC bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, which is the main event of UFC 148.
