Looks Like Its Gonna Happen Afterall: Condit vs. Diaz II (Confirmed)
FROM DANA WHITES TWITTER:
"The rumor is true. Carlos did accept the fight today and Carlos is coming on Friday not Thur.... Carlos wanted it."

So I guess although his trainer, Greg Jackson, and even UFC President Dana White, felt wasn't warranted because the judges got it right on fight night...
Nick Diaz is on his way to a rematch with the man many felt ran away with the victory (no pun intended).
So what do you guys think?
I mean dont get me wrong, I wouldnt mind watching them go at it for another 5 rounds .. but is it really warranted? Is this for the fans? Or is this to try to give Diaz another chance at finding his way into a fight with GSP?
And what happens if Nick actually DOES win? Im not sure I see it fit to throw Diaz right at GSP, considering they (Diaz and Condit) would be 1-1.. would there be a rubber match?
Hmmm, so many questions on this one. I definitely saw it as a close fight, and although it wasn't the type of fight we probably all expected, it did have a rather "this is final" type of feel to it.
Maybe its just me, and hey I'm not arguing either way.. I just think unless Carlos wins again, there is potential for a serious can of worms to be opened up.
Then again .. its the UFC, and nothing surprises me anymore lol. Love me a good fight though, so I hope this one turns out to be more like the fight I hoped for the first time around.

Yes, I'm stoked for this.
I could watch these two fight a hundred times and not get bored. Props to Carlos for giving Nick another shot. Betting this one gets way more hectic, and this time Carlos fucks Nick up. First he took the belt, now he coming for your soul Nick Diaz!
What's this war in the heart of nature? Why does nature vie with itself? The land contend with the sea? Is there an avenging power in nature? Not one power, but two?

Penn/Edgar 2 written all over it…I say Carlos drops Nick in the first with a head kick but ultimately gets another decision…so it is written so it shall come to pass!

Fox 3 is cool for a variety of reasons:
1) the Diaz brothers on the same card, should be exciting I would assume
2) Nate shouldn’t be in Nick’s corner if he fights in the co-main event right before (that’s a plus? maybe for Nick)
3) think it would get more mainstream attention and attract a larger audience

I agree, without looking to see if other cards needs this fight, Fox 3 immediately comes to mind.
Methinks Condit is about to have a huge pay increase. He initially said he would want to wait for GSP and I think he said no to a rematch initially (but I’m probably just full of shit on that one). Whichever, he didn’t have to give Nick this rematch. He could’ve sat out til November. But he’s giving Nick another shot, so you can make damn sure he’s getting paid. Good for Carlos if he truly wants the fight. I think it’ll be excellent. Way to step up.
INEPT coming for the season 2 BECW title.

If Nate is fighting on the same card, will Nick have a different cornerman?

I told him not to buy that fixer upper. I said why bother trying to get 30k in sweet equity remodeling this house when you can make 500k or more this year just by dedicating yourself to training. Just rent a nice condo downtown till you can buy the house of your dreams..no yardwork, no tiling , no grouting.
Does the kid listen? Never. Now he’s living a house with a torn out shitter sitting in the shower. oh well at least he can hire a good plumber.

I'm probably the biggest Diaz fans here
But really? The welterweight division has so many good fights and contenders. Why not give Diaz the loser of Sanchez/Ellenberger and Condit the winner? That would be awesome if each fight were five rounds. Diaz vs. Fitch, Hendricks vs. Condit. Alves/Kampmann is another fight coming up.
My point is that this division has so many interesting match ups that it is kind of lame we are getting an immediate rematch.
Hopefully this fight falls out and we can get some fresh match ups. I want to see them fight again, just not so soon.
It makes sense though.
Fox benefits from a title fight and Nick Diaz needs incentive to stick around and “play the game.” Of course, Condit is getting the Frankie Edgar treatment in the process, but it’s all good.

Too bad Nick Diaz retired ...
I mean, he wouldn’t go back on his in-ring, post-loss proclaimation now, would he? As I speak for those who believe insta-rematches are pretty ludicrous, I’m with the above posters (especially discoherpes) who point out that the division has a lot of cool matchups that can be made that would have actual relevance to fleshing out a line of contention AND provide some awesome fights. Ellenberger vs. Sanchez should/would be a great place to start. Diaz versus Mike Pierce (two alleged “robbery” victims can duke it out, and Diaz can be smothered by a wrestler and this hype train can be ended at that point), get Jake Shields in there to take a beating from Johny Hendricks or something …
Condit already beat Diaz. Let’s move on, folks.
I now have a signature statement. Behold!
Mike Pierce does not have the offense to push and keep Diaz on his back
I’m all for a Pierce/Diaz fight, but quite honestly I think it’s a bad match up for Pierce. Pierce could probably counter Diaz early, but I don’t see him keeping up that pace for five rounds.

Just a three-round fight, though
Seeing as there’s no belt on the line, and it wouldn’t be a main-card headliner (or whatever crap the UFC is trying to pull with their arbitrary five-round non-title fight format). I would agree with you, it would be a big test for Pierce, but hell … give the guy something to do.
I now have a signature statement. Behold!
It should be illegal to put Diaz in a three round fight
You have a guy with cardio that good and a paycheck that big, I doubt he is put in a situation where is next fight is a three rounder.
I actually think Mike Pierce and Rick Story should fight. They had that whole argument before and they have interesting styles (defensive counter fighter vs. super aggressive offensive fighter).

F...... yea!!!
OH shit if this is true thank you Dana White!! I’m happy the HONORABLE thing to do is done. This is great Nick Diaz deserves this rematch he is an amazing fighter and Carlos run away all fight, this is not good for the sport and it was not technichal it was running. And i am happy Carlos Condit man up i hope he realized he was gonna lose all the respect from the people that matters: true fans and fighters!!!!
I just wanted a great fight and the best man to win that is simple and fair. I dont want to see fights that seem fixed, i wouldnät have minden if Condit would have won but he totally pissed me of by running away, even i wanted to run after him and punch him in the ear with a superman punch or a flying knee, or to push him so hard while running away to making he fall down and finish him i wanted to get in the cage and kick his running ass. ( Sorry Condit). ( i woke up at 4 am just to see this guy running!!!!)
This time i want Diaz to win, Carlos totally turn me off as a person and as a fighter.

I don’t believe that for a second. ;)

No pun intended is code for LOOK MY CLEVER WORDPLAY,
when someone wants people to notice, but are too embarrassed (and rightfully so) to publicly autofellate themself by saying “pun intended.”
