There's been a disturbing trend developing on BE over the last 6 months or so and it needs to be addressed. There are way too many people polluting the only MMA site I can tolerate with stupid, worthless shit that offers zero value of any kind. Sifting through the various layers of ignorance and idiocy to find something insightful or entertaining is turning into way more work than should be necessary. I'm making a heart-felt plea to all moderators to start banning these jackasses with a whole lot less restraint than has been shown lately.

It's not that I have a problem with opposing views; there are plenty of people on this site I have spirited arguments with that aren't a complete waste of my time, energy and soul. But I hate stupidity, and BE is becoming infected with it.

I'm not sure how much BE's reputation for being elitist is a factor, but I personally am proud to be part of a community that sets standards for conduct and quality. It's why I left Sherdog in the first place, because here, finally, I could have an actually intelligent conversation without being called a fag, shit face, or any of the other wonderful nicknames that Internet mouth-breathers have scrawled out in Crayon and then transferred to a comment box.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just having a bad day. But I don't think so. BE was something special when I found it in 2009 and it's still the only MMA site I check with any frequency. But holes are starting to appear and standards are starting to slip. Loosen the hammers in their holsters and start doing what needs to be done.
