Was Diaz a victim of a bad decision?
Was Nick Diaz a victim of poor judging, or did he really just get beat? According to Nick, he is nothing but a victim of poor judging, and a judging system that rewards the wrong guy. My home scorecard had Carlos Condit winning 48-47 at least. The last 3 rounds he was going forward, but he was behind in the effective striking department. The first 2 rounds i gave to Nick, with the second round being very close and really could have went either way, but Diaz was going forward so i gave it to him. I just couldn't give him any of the last 3 rounds just for being the 1 going forward because he was not the 1 landing the more telling blows.
If Nick Diaz was just emoitional when he said" he is done with this mma s...t" he really should retire. Saying he gets paid way to much, is a slap in the face to those who pay to watch him fight. The more they pay thier fighters, the more they have to charge for tickets to watch fights. I think he is just blowing smoke out his ass. He is a bully, who couldn't have his way with Carlos, and got frustrated and emotional and said some irrational things. Nick is an awesome fighter, and i would love to see him fight in person for sure. I really hope he comes to fight some more ( a fight with Koscheck) would be way cool. What do you think Nick should do, and what do you think he will do?

short answer: no.
longer answer:it was a close fight that could have gone either way. i just don’t understand the outrage on BE over the decision. don’t leave it in the hands of the judges.
Also don't understand
Why every close decision is so vehemently contested. It’s one thing to get angry over a travesty, but really if the decision is close and it’s a matter of one close round that could’ve gone either way, there’s nothing really to complain about.
It thought Diaz won, but that said
Diaz has no one to blame but himself. If he checked a couple leg kicks in that fight he probably wins. If he cut the cage off a little better he probably wins. He could have shot in and taken the fight to the ground sooner.
He could have done a bunch of things differently to try and win the fight and he didn’t, so he has to live with that.
i agree
I agree with both tha dude and d&h points. This was a close fight, and when it is that close everybody knows not to leave it in the hands of the judges. Not sure what Nick was thinking with his logic of i went forward so i should have won, no matter how bad i was outstruck. The outrage online is a little doubious to me as well.
d&h raises an interestin point about Diaz not checking some of those leg kicks, that could have been critical in scorring. Add that to the fact that he didn’t cut the ring off very well, and never really tried to take Carlos down. Man with them points the fight would have had a different outcome, i think.
Eitherway a pretty entertaining fight. One guy stuck to the gameplan, which had the right stuff to frustrate and beat the man touted as the man destined for the championship. While Diaz basically let a fight get away from him, that he allraedy thought was his. Then when he is disgusted with judging, he announces his retirement.
I hope i get to see Diaz fight again, while i find myself suprisingly liking Diaz a little more then the total disdain i have held to him for years. He is just going to have to work his weigh back up the welterweight ladder. If George beats Carlos, you can bet the bank that Diaz will be there to fight him, for sure.

I thought Nick was the victim of a bad decision.
I mean, it wasn’t a robbery, by any means, but I thought he pretty clearly won the fight and I was surprised by the decision. I feel I should add that I don’t blame Condit at all for the way he fought and that I think he had a very good game plan he implemented pretty well; the fight wasn’t like I expected it and I was a bit disappointed by how much less exciting it was than I hoped for, but those guys are fighting to win, not to entertain me.
The only really clear round was the fourth and it was Condit’s, I don’t think there’s any disputing that. The fifth looked like it was going the way of the fourth but I think the take down and the groundwork more than made up for its beginning. I scored the first three for Diaz and I thought that the third was easily the clearest for him. Condit out landed him, but I don’t think there was all that much in most of those shots. He did mix in a few hard shots with the softer ones but, personally, I felt Nick landed the better blows. I could say the same for the first two as well, although I would have no problem with the first being scored a draw or even for Condit. This is after I watched the fight again, when I was a bit more sober.
All that said, I think neither guy fought to his potential. I believe Condit could have executed a similar plan while still putting more power in his blows and that Nick should and could have adapted or at the very least have tried to adapt his game to the realities of the fight. Good fight, nowhere near as good as I hoped for (for which I blame both guys) and a decision I disagree with strongly while I still feel is both understandable and defensible.
I forgot to say:
in one of the interviews here in BE, Dana White hints at the possibility of re-matching Condit v. Diaz. I know that this will very probably not happen and that most mma fans strongly dislike re-matches, but I think it would be ideal. One way or the other the fight was close and I very much would like to see what those two guys could bring to the table after they had already met once. I find it very hard to believe the results would be this inconclusive again and I believe both men would fight much better (smarter for Diaz and harder for Condit).
I would like a rematch
While GSP is out – no reason not to IMO.

This fight will prob be good for Diaz in the long run
Because he looked like a bit of a one trick pony in there (apart from the takedown right at the end). Even when he was being outstruck there was no plan B just bombing forward and trying to cut off the cage.
