Jorgensen vs Barao: Who Are You Picking?
I'm pretty set on my picks for UFC 143, but the Scott Jorgensen vs Renan 'Barao' Pegado fight has me completely stuck. I really can't decide who to pick here, so I thought I'd turn to BE.
To me, this seems to be a very even match up. I'm currently leaning towards Jorgensen; he's looked great lately, and has only lost to Cruz in his last 8 fights. I see his strong wrestling and powerful ground and pound being enough to keep Barao in line, grinding out a unanimous decision.
But the way Renan destroyed pickett, a solid submission game, and his current win streak has me on the fence. So who do you guys have in this one?

Barao, obviously.
We’ve seen what he does to wrestleboxers, and Scotty has a very similar game to Brad picket, who Barao absolutely lit up with strikes.
I see very few similarities between picket and Scotty. I am leaning towards Scotty due to wrestling base and because the picket fight was the first time I had seen barao

I think Jorgensen starts off slow and gets beat up for a round or two
Gets his shit together and is competitive in latter part of the fights, but still drops a convincing decision.
Barao
Though I’m not sure if he blitzes Jorgensen for a first-round sub/TKO or just takes a dominant decision.

i got barao by decision and ill explain why
Jorgenson does not wanna strike with him that’s probably obvious. Barao bough is a Bjj blackbelt with 13 wins by submission. I personally feel that barao knows he’s the better striker and can probably nullify jorgenson on the ground. Scotty has also never been KOd so I see barao winning a dominating decision

Decent breakdown,
but i’m not as convinced Barao can nullify Jorgensen on the ground. From what I could see, Barao has not faced a wrestler with the kind of credentials and skills Jorgensen possess. It’s possible but I think Jorgensen has a better chance of winning the fight if it takes place on the mat.

i see what your saying
but first he has to get passed Barao’s striking and reach which i dont see him being able to do. He couldnt do it against Cruz and i dont think he can do it against Barao who has more dynamic striking then Cruz.
very good point.

Barao by TKO
Barao has explosive, diverse and creative striking, great grappling, great transitions. I wasn’t sure he was the real deal untill I saw him demolish Pickett at UFC 138.
Wrote a preview of the fight here
Barao's the real deal
Powerful, diverse Muay Thai, slick BJJ, and like most of the Nova Uniao guys, solid wrestling. I don’t buy for a second the idea that Jorgensen will be able to take him down at will and grind out a decision, Barao’s too active and too well-rounded for that. Moreover, he’s been taken down exactly once since coming to the WEC/UFC, though he hasn’t fought a wrestler as good as Jorgensen.

Lots of Barao hype
It will be justified as I see this fight being Barao’s coming out party in the UFC. Some people will argue his fight with Picketts which I can understand but I think we are yet to see his full potential. Scotty is no joke, but I don’t see him taking Barao down or knocking him out. The guy is a fucking enigma of pain.

I've got Jorgensen by decision but my confidence is at like 1%.
I think this fight can go either way by any result.
No, you're not drunk. I am this good-looking.
Thanks guys,
decided to change my pick to Baraom. Better not let me down BE!

I kind of want Barao to win
just cause I don’t think a second fight with Cruz would go any better for Jorgensen but Scotty is a bad dude. First that standing guillotine and then knocking that dude out from guard. He’s a tough little fucker
