When Donald Cerrone (17-4, 1 NC) was booked against Yves Edwards after his UFC 141 loss to Nate Diaz, a lot of fans were surprised. With just one loss in five UFC fights, many expected that Cowboy would continue fighting upper-echelon guys, and with Yves losing two of his last three, he wasn't that guy. Well, it all worked out in the end for those people, according to MMA Weekly:
An injury has forced Yves Edwards out of UFC on Fuel 3 and in his place Jeremy Stephens will step in to face Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone on the May 15 card.
Stephens (20-7) is coming off a split decision loss to possible future title challenger Anthony Pettis at UFC 136, but won his last two bouts before that. He has picked up three knockout of the night bonuses and one fight of the night bonus in his career, so he's an excellent matchup for Cerrone (who has picked up bonuses in four of his fight UFC fights himself). The bout is likely slated for the UFC on Fuel 3 main card.
