Finally, it seems that the most talked-about grudge match in MMA over the last year is going to come together. Former training partners Jon Jones and Rashad Evans are scheduled to meet for the UFC light heavyweight title in the main event on UFC 145, which takes place on April 21st from Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. The card also features two big heavyweight bouts, with Brendan Schaub taking on Ben Rothwell, and Chad Griggs making his UFC debut against Travis Browne. Check out the current card below:

That’s what HW is all about! A couple ogres slugging it out with the chance of somebody getting flattened with a single shot. Hopefully not going past the 3 min mark because that is when cardio doesn’t only start to fade but becomes something of a myth.

Seriously?
The main event is spectacular of course, but it’s obvious that they’re going cheap with the rest of the main card because of it. I like the Torres fight, but the rest are not very good.. no interest in another Rory Mac mismatch, and those heavyweights can go to hell for all I care.

McDonald/Torres is pretty close to a title eliminator. If not this fight, then the next
Rory is looking at a step up in competition with a win. Other than that you’re right. Although, the winner of Hunt/Kongo will actually be in the proverbial mix.

I’m not complaining about taking their time with a guy like MacDonald either. Love seeing them build him up a bit, he’s only 22.
My only problem is putting him in a co-main event against such a meh opponent. I want him to co-main a card when he’s ready to fight a guy like Kampmann, Sanchez or Alves.
McDonald/Torres should be co-main, imo. Very relevant fight with title implications. Even then, this card is lacking a true co-main event, like so many cards right now due to the saturation.

this is one of the few cards that’s not worth a Saturday night for me. after Evans boring performance against Phil i’m not really all that into the Jones fight either.

That the live fights on the show this season will be three rounds. IIRC, the reason for them being labeled as exhibitions during prior seasons was so that the results wouldn’t have to be released; now that it’s no longer a factor, I can’t see why they wouldn’t officially be counted.

If that’s the case, then I see the only barrier is that the UFC would have to pay them for the show. That said, that kind of investment might increase the talent level on the show.
I hope the UFC realizes that the higher level of fighters on the show, the better the show (as the last TUF proved). I also hope we get more coaches fighting on the actual finale (Bisping and Mayhem did really great numbers on Spike) and a lot of guys on the finale that competed on the show on the card (like we got on the last card).
I’m basically saying the last TUF was awesome and they should keep it up.

I think the last season of TUF was kind of a dry run for the new FX format – higher quality of fighters, a larger number of fighters, and showing more fights overall. My hope is that they’re starting to understand that the actual fights are what draw people to TUF; personality’s great, but talent should be the goal.

You’d think they’d put some decent fights in support of him to draw more interest. He’s not popular enough to carry a card yet.
Jones Main Evented many of the best crawing cards in 2011.
It looks like they’re testing the waters to see how he does without a strong supporting cast.

People are sleeping on Che Mills. He might not win but he will put up a good fight.
Fighting is like champagne. It goes to the heads of cowards as quickly as of heroes. Any fool can be brave on a battlefield when it's be brave or else be killed.
