Not bad. 143-145 are all easy buys. Do we really know anything about 146 or 148 yet? I think 147 will probably be Silva vs Sonnen II so that’s another must buy. If I had Dish I’d be all over this.

With it going up to July, there is a chance that dos Santos vs Overeem could be UFC 148 as I remember reading somewhere that fight is tentatively scheduled to be in the summer. Maybe one of those PPVs will be Faber vs Cruz III.

This is a good deal. Once again I’m wishing I didn’t have Comcast. I’m going to have to look into direct tv or dish real soon if Comcast doesn’t pick up fuel soon.

I'm gonna give him a contract he cant refuse.

The sports package that has Fuel TV for DISH Network is $7.00 a month. I’m probably going to get that as well.

Might do this

if only for the UFC “fist” t-shirt.

Make it a yearly thing… $300 for the whole year. I’d buy it at that price. That’s similar to the MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA packages…

by Shnak on Feb 2, 2012 7:06 AM EST reply actions

That is far too cheap. That’s less than half priced PPVs. They’d need to make the package around 600 for standard definition before it’s even close to beneficial for them.

Hey, they’d get my $300 that way… as it is now, they’re lucky if they get $60 a year from me.

by Shnak on Feb 2, 2012 12:03 PM EST up reply actions

That's a crock of horseshit.

If you maybe buy one PPV a year you’re not going to pay $300. You’ll continue pirating or watching online later.

Wrong. I’ve purchased the NHL package at $300 a couple of times in the past, and most definitely would purchase the UFC PPV package for $300 too. At $25 a show, more or less, it’d be worth it. As it is, it costs me around that to go to a bar, have a drink or two with some food. Instead of paying that much at a bar, I’d gladly stay home and give that same amount of money to my cable provider every single time. Just so you know, there’s maybe 2 or 3 PPV events per year that I can’t watch at a bar because of various reasons, and for those 2-3 PPV events, I’ll find another way to catch them. But for the other 12-13 PPV events, my butt is at a bar.

I’m a huge MMA fan, but I’m not paying over $1,000 to watch 15 PPV shows at home. No thanks. That’s just way too much to ask of anyone. If there were 4 mega-PPVs per year and the rest was on free TV, then sure, I’d buy those 4 events at $60 a pop. But not 15 events. No way.

by Shnak on Feb 2, 2012 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

This deal is better than nothing, I only hope that cablevision adopts that deal.

At best, I would hope for would be a BOGO 30% off. That way, you incentive people to keep buying ppvs, especially weaker ones that come out just before or after bigger events. Events like 125, 136, 137, and 139 would have better buy rates if fans had such a deal to capitalize on if they bought ppv events directly preceding or following them.

Example: My two friends and I might have considered paying for UFC 133 at $50 ($16.70 each) instead of skipping it, if we knew we could get the next PPV, UFC 134, for 30% off at $35 (11.70 each).

i was wondering if anyone was going to do anything like this for some time. WWE has been doing it for years to bundle some of the weaker PPV’s with a major one. this sounds great.
