UFC Sweden Adds Wisely Vs. Young, Izquierdo Vs. Madadi

Photo

UFC on Fuel 2 is set to go down in Stockholm on April 14th, and the card is now full. The UFC added the last two bouts to the card today, finding a replacement for the injured Akira Corassani and throwing a new lightweight bout on there as well. UFC.com with the news:

The sold-out UFC on FUEL TV fight night in Stockholm, Sweden, has added two fights to its roster. With Akira Corassani sidelined due to injury, midwestern scrapper Eric Wisely will step in for the injured TUF alum to take on Jason Young in what will be a featherweight battle of striking specialists.

Also that night, undefeated lightweight Yoislandy 'Cuba' Izquierdo has verbally agreed to make his first UFC fight one against Stockholm's own Reza 'Mad Dog' Madadi. Both fighters had been scheduled to enter the Octagon earlier in the year - though not against each other - but injury and red tape delayed their debuts.

Verbal agreements are in for both bouts.

Wisely made his UFC debut at UFC on Fox 2, where he was submitted by a Charles Oliveira calf slicer in under two minutes. Young is 0-2 in the UFC, dropping spirited decisions to Dustin Poirier at UFC 131 and Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 138. As stated above, both Izquierdo and Madadi were forced out of earlier debuts and will step into the octagon for the first time in April.

that’s too bad, was looking forward to him getting his ass beat.

ABSOLUTELY

i do really dislike the guy, and basically wanted to write the same as you did. Hope he will get his ass kicked soon.. if there will not be yet another injury :) i hope UFC didnt contract him i dont even know why they try when he gets injured all over again..how many shots more does he have? I dont see him willing to fight at all..

and wow choked out Junie Browning? Finished Prater? You down there should come up with some better names :) If any time i hope to see him brutalised that once when he gets the chance to go to the UFC Octagon. Golden Glory has many many more talented fighters than he is.

As possibly the only Akira Corassani fan on the face of the earth

I think this is probably for the best. He’s only been with Golden Glory for a small amount of time and he was looking at a tough test for his debut.

also, Reza by whatever he wants

guy choked out Junie Browning, beat a 15-pounds overweight Carlos Prater and tooled Rich Clementi.

Madadi didn't "tool" Clementi.

It was a very close fight that was initially scored as a draw by all three judges but because of a weird rule-set in place, they were forced to pick a winner and went with Madadi. Additionally, choking out Browning is hardly an accomplishment to brag about, and the Prater win was solid, but otherwise, Reza’s been beating up nobodies.

Cuba is a legit prospect and Madadi’s going to have his hands full.

Good to see Reza finally get his first UFC fight, hope he does well.

Really just looking forward to the Stann fight. The main event is weak as hell.

Overall, aside from Stann, the entire card is dull. Especially for an UFC event debuting in Sweden.
