UFC On Fuel TV Sanchez vs. Ellenberger: Jonathan Brookins Saves Facebook Prelims With Brutal KO Of Vagner Rocha
Often the fights on the Facebook preliminaries of a UFC broadcast are a highlight of the night's action. No so last night at UFC on Fuel TV. If not for a fine performance by Jonathan Brookins in a back-and-forth fight with Vagner Rocha, it would have been entirely uneventful.
Rocha, a late substitute for Rani Yahya, initially seemed to have the edge on Brookins standing. He tagged Brookins with his opening combo and out landed him in multiple exchanges. But then Rocha made a mistake, a fatal error. He apparently dropped to his back seeking a leg lock, but that put him beneath Brookins, bad place to be. Brookins didn't take long to capitalize and quickly finished Rocha with strikes from the top.
The less said about the rest of the fights on the undercard, the better.
The only fighter involved with the rest of the prelims that won any points from me last night was Buddy Roberts and that's only because Sean Loeffler, his scheduled opponent had to back out of their bout at the last minute due to an ugly ankle injury.
The lightweights Tim Means and Justin Salas picked up wins over Anton Kuivanen and Bernardo Magalhaes in two extremely uneventful fights.
SBN coverage of UFC on Fuel TV

Lightweight bout: Tim Means vs. Bernardo Magalhaes
Means defeated Magalhaes via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26).
Lightweight bout: Anton Kuivanen vs. Justin Salas

Featherweight bout: Jonathan Brookins vs. Vagner Rocha

Sean Loeffler did not fight Buddy Roberts due to an ankle injury just before the fight.

I thought so too.
I would have a horseshoe surgically implanted in my ass just so Brock would pull it out and beat me over the head with it while I pleasure myself.

It’s too bad Means wasn’t able to finish. Magalhaes had nothing for him; one of the most one-sided fights that made it to a decision in recent memory.

Means was actually doing damage though.

He hit him a lot. The punches didn’t seem to hurt Watson though. Magalhaes was getting hurt badly.

I don’t understand the hate for these two fights. Sure Means totally outclassed his opponent, and with a little more killer instinct he should have finished it, but he put some good offense out there while showing a very well rounded skill set. The Salas v Kuivanen fight was a very competitive fight that I didn’t find boring in any way shape or form. Were either of the fights FOTN? No, but they were very solid fights.
