UFC On Fuel TV Results: Stipe Miocic Knocks Out Phil De Fries In The First

UFC on Fuel TV Poster by Anton Tabuena

Stipe Miocic defeats Phil De Fries by TKO. The stoppage came at :43 in the first round.

Phil De Fries came out early and surprised Stipe Miocic with some powerful punches that landed flush to the ex-golden gloves champion's chin. Fortunately for Miocic, he was able to weather the early storm and then show why he is considered one of the top prospects at heavyweight. Miocic blocked a right hand and countered with his own that staggered the Brit. Miocic followed it up with several more punches that dropped De Fries and forced the referee to stop the fight early in the first round.

Miocic picks up his second win in the UFC after a hard fought victory over Joey Beltran at UFC 136. He wouldn't call out any heavyweights, instead saying in his post-fight interview that he wants to get back in the gym and keep improving. Phil De Fries still has a lot of potential as one of the top European grapplers. He should get another shot at the UFC in spite of the loss.
