Mike Tyson spoke to Inside MMA about boxing vs MMA and his theory that Fedor Emelianenko started losing because he couldn't keep up in the "era of PEDs".

Iron Mike seems to have decent knowledge of MMA unlike most guys from boxing

Apparently he’s going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as well (at Wrestlemania this spring).

For the sake of American popularity, sure

But I’m just fine with boxing shifting over to Europe and Asia, American fans are the worst about foreign boxing champs, especially heavyweights.

Tyson is a legitimate sporting icon. There are a limitless number of fighters, MMA and boxing, who name him as an inspiration growing up.
Fitting he should name Fedor as a favourite, both he and Emelianenko were small, lightening quick heavyweights who transcended their sports.

for being such a "controversial" figure he came off very well spoken in this interview.

never been to big/major boxing fight but been to 2 MMA events and its true that they play music inbetween fights and what not. bitches at XFC events in Tampa sure dont know shit about mma but they sure like to show skin and get crazy lol. BFC was a more refined.

Mike Tyson Is Crazy

He could recite quantum theory and it wouldn’t make him any less crazy and his opinions any more valid

He'd have been Kevin Randleman's polar opposite

Might’ve been pretty cool.

Or maybe he would've been a bust and ended up like Melvin Guillard.

Very few people have ever engaged Melvin in a through and through standup affair and not gotten KTFO’d. But then again, his neck has a well known self destructive streak.

Not very

Tyson is so famous because of the short length of his fights but most of them were against pretty weak opposition.

Tyson is BIG, man

when u say BOXING, to most people outside US and in us(idk that), the first association is TYSON!!! BOXING=TYSON. People who didn’t see Ali’s antics, and who were born in tyson era, they all think of Tyson of that Machine that destroyed everyone in boxing in his prime. so yeh he’s huge in USSR as far as I know

And every kid who grew up in the Nintendo era have been knocked out by Tyson, many times. That game added to his aura for people my generation.

say what you want about Tyson, but he always has something interesting to say

i really like that he’s turned his life around, and actually seems happy.

PEDs had nothing to do with Fedor’s loss to Werdum, that’s for sure.

On the topic of Fedor, i still look forward to his fights when he’s fighting top guys as much as i did when he was undefeated.

I still wish he would sign with the UFC.

Fedor is always a joy to watch. I can’t comprehend why some people want him to retire.

B/c he’s achieved the maximum heights in MMA, and b/c he shouldn’t get hurt trying to hold on to the past? But that’s just me. Truth may be that Fedor actually liked competing, in the end, and has a hard time letting go like everyone else.

We all know that Fedor, without Hendo magic elixir (TRT), can’t naturally keep up with the young’uns like he used to. There’s no need to risk his helath when he’s got his two young girls, his superhot wife, and that crazy bearded dude all waiting in Stary Oskol.

Tyson = Fedor

Tyson in his heyday was a very good, but not a great boxer. True boxing fans know that Iron Mike came up short(lost) when facing his toughest opponents. Tko’d by James “Buster” Douglas in 10th rd. Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield tko’d in 10th rd., Lennox Lewis tko’d 9th rd. He deserved to be called a legend, but is not in Louis,Robinson,Ali, Duran,Leonard status.
